The Sustainable Development Foundation is a think-thank, registered in Italy as "not-for-profit organization", born in 2008 by will of companies, association of companies and sustainability experts, in order to encourage a sustainable growth. Today it can rely on a network of more that 150 members and a staff of 30 people, based in Rome.

The President of the Foundation is Edo Ronchi, former Ministry of Environment (1996-2000), who signed for Italy the Kyoto protocol in 1998. The director is Raimondo Orsini, former UIC and Trenitalia professional in environmental management.

The Foundation can provide technical support and partnerships. It publishes reports and research into energy and climate, circular economy, sustainable mobility, environment management; it holds workshop, lectures, conferences and learning events.
