    Please note that the Venice Marathon will take place at the same time as the Conference and hotels are in high demand so please make sure to book your accomodation individually as soon as possible after registering to the event.
    Please note that hotel rooms in Venice are normally smaller than average, but prices are usually higher than average! The best areas for your hotel would be in the vicinity of Piazzale Roma or the Railway station both located in the (...)

    General information
    Venice is the Capital City of the Venezia region. It is made of 550km2 of laguna and is divided into 6 districts or "Sestieri".
    In winter, between October and April, the phenomenom of Acqua Alta (high water) flood many parts of Venice. San Marco Piazza being the lowest part is regularly under water. Passages are then build for pedestrians. It is advised to bring boots during these winter months. Boots can also be bought at newspapers outlets if neccessary.

  • UIC Sustainability Awards

    Indian Railways, ÖBB, Eress and TRENITALIA receive awards.
    The third edition of the UIC Sustainability Awards was held on 26th October at the 12th UIC Sustainability Conference, organised jointly by the International Union of Railways (UIC) and Ferrovie dello Stato Italiane. Awards were given in four categories: Sustainable Mobility, Energy and CO2, Sustainable Land Use and the Jury’s Special Prize. The winners and highly-commended projects were as follows:
